I see this in my area. These stores prey on low income families who are struggling with food security and don’t have the time to shop or travel for better deals.

This is the sort of issue that the Dems need to start addressing/talking about. The reactionary right has a lock and an advantage on the electoral college system bc the country has forgotten about people in rural areas, which are being left behind, and are very vulnerable to the kind of politics from the right. Until they are appropriately “seen”, the country won’t be able to move forward united. Just like minorities are being seen like never before, these people in rural communities must be seen in terms of policy and emotional political intelligence.

You are 100,000% correct and the D’s are not oblivious to this mind you. They don’t care. If they did, materially, the pro-business, pro-capitalist and anti-worker conditions they routinely support would not contribute to this gross- disgusting- abuse of the 50%.

They’ve had opportunities for decades.

This is exactly what Walmart did as they started expanding, small communities lost their mom & pop stores and Main streets became boarded up ghost towns.

It's happened with all Main Street businesses. There were numerous small bookstores then Borders and Barnes and Noble moved in , dropped their prices, killed the competition and put the prices up. Then Borders went under and there's only one Bookstore left. Walmart did the same. Shopping Malls had a variety of shops until landlords raised rents and eliminated everyone except big chain stores then all Malls were the same. Now Amazon is eliminating Malls and they are going after Groceries and Drugstores currently. The Media is owned by 4 Corporations. There's no choice anymore.

In addition to squeezing out the 'little guy', it creates homelessness, which further degrades neighborhoods. GREED is one of the biggest, if not the biggest sins EVER. A Family $$ is within the sight of my house. There were homeless, drug deals going on in the daylight, needles everywhere. I live on the side of a mountain, and I have a bird-eye view of all the horrors going on. It's sad. But these $$ stores are the problem, as we WalMart when they first come to be. WM wipped out towns. It's all a disgrace, IMHO.
